This article has all the resource related to the Emma Holliday high yield lectures. You will find

  • PDF slides /Powerpoint
  • ANKI
  • Quizlet
  • Memorang

This review of the Emma Holliday Lectures is meant to be your complete guide to the resources already out there for these great lectures and on how to use them to absolutely dominate med school.

What are the Emma Holliday High Yield Lectures

These are a lecture series if you will that was created around 2010 and includes hours of videos that are super high yield.

They were made by a medical student at the time named Emma Holliday.

These high yield lectures cover:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Pediatrics
  • Psychiatry

These four amazing reviews were written when she was an MS4 and are designed particularly for shelf exams /step 2 review, and have been used extensively for COMAT/Level 2 review as well.

Overall, these videos have a total run time of around 8 hours. If you hit it with 1.5 speed then there is no reason you can’t cover these high yield videos multiple times on each rotation.

Who is Emma Holliday

Emma Holliday Ramahi, MD is a Radiation Oncologist that has a great focus on medical education and female representation in a tough field of medicine. She created some of the highest yield videos out there for students to review prior to their shelf/COMAT tests and Step/Level 2.

She made the videos as an MS4 when she was getting ready for her own Step 2 exam. Basically, she adopted much the same style of review that I did for CPM OMM. She made these powerpoints to consolidate the information for herself, then realized she had a great set of videos.

She did such an incredible job putting these together, and really deserves a lot of gratitude from the medical student community.

Emma Holliday High Yield Pediatrics Review

What is in the Emma Holliday Pediatrics Review

When you compare this review to other great reviews from sources like OME and First Aid for the Step 2 CK you will see that Emma Holliday has gone above and beyond.

It is pretty similar in nature to OME, but in my opinion much higher yield and better explained.

Here is the list of what you can expect from the Emma Holliday Pediatrics Review.

emma holliday high yield lectures
  • Newborn
  • Genetic Diseases and Syndromes
  • Growth and Development
  • Heart Diseases
  • Respiratory Disease
  • Endocrine
  • Renal
  • Heme-Onc
  • Infectious Disease
  • Bone and Joint Issues
  • Neurology

As you can see, it covers a ton of information. I highly recommend you download the PDF and go through it with the video. Take notes on it, then you can use that as your high yield pediatrics review notes.

Why is the Emma Holliday Pediatrics Lecture so Great

The really nice thing about this pediatrics review compared to others is the fact that she really dives deep into the details and high points you need to know.

There are no waste of time low yield points mentioned in her lectures.

From someone that absolutely crushed clinical years and the exams that come with them, I can assure you that she hits all the important points.

Another nice thing about this peds review is the fact that it is clinically relevant as well.

The OME peds videos are pretty similar to these ones in that regard as well. It is nice to have a review that is so test focused and high yield, but it can be pretty easy to forget that you are learning all this material not to just take a test, but to be a great doctor.

This peds review will help you be a better doctor for kids.

How to Use The High Yield Emma Holliday Lectures

A great way to this high yield peds review is:

  • Watch it at the start of the rotation
  • Do practice questions
  • Then watch it at the mid point of the rotation
  • Watch this  again at the end of the rotation

Watching the video three times throughout a rotation is not difficult. These videos are between 1-2 hours a piece and you can fly through them pretty quickly on a Saturday afternoon.

Spacing it out like this helps you to first notice the important things about the rotation, then review them, and finally hit the high yield points before you go take your shelf/COMAT.

Don’t be hesitant to print out the PDF and go through it and if you are into ANKI then by all means download that Deck and cruise through it during lunch or downtimes as well.

Emma Holliday High Yield Internal Medicine Review

Emma Holliday Internal Medicine Powerpoint/ PDF (H3)

What is in the Emma Holliday Internal Medicine Review

This is a great birds eye review of Internal Medicine. Overall, I think that Dr. Holliday Ramahi does a great job of reviewing medicine. There are some areas that are lacking. I think her infectious disease section is one of those.

So much of what you will be tested on and then see clinically is infectious disease.

I recommend you supplement her Internal Medicine videos with the free ones from OME.

Here is a list of what is included in Dr. Holliday Ramahi’s Internal Medicine Review.

  • Cardiology
  • Pulmonology
  • GI
  • Infectious Disease
  • Nephrology
  • Hemo-Onc
  • Rheum/Derm
  • Endocrine
  • Neurology

Why is the High Yield Internal Medicine Emma Holliday lecture so great

When it comes to this high yield internal medicine review, there aren’t many others that are this concise.

The best thing about what Emma Holliday Ramahi has put together is that it is very short, sweet, and to the point.

Internal medicine is a huge topic, so having a lecture like this one that you can turn to right before you take a shelf, COMAT, or your step/Level 2 is a great way to do a high yield rapid review.

In my opinion it is a condensed version of Online Med Ed.

Online Med Ed is fantastic, but it would be impossible to watch all of their internal medicine material in a weekend.

This is where bookmarking this page and coming back to Emma Holliday’s high yield internal medicine lecture is a great idea.

How to use the Emma Holliday High Yield Internal Medicine Lecture

In my opinion, using this at 3 points throughout your internal medicine rotation is the best.

Watch this video and review the powerpoint/pdf first thing when you start your Internal Medicine rotation.

Watching this video that early gives you an appreciation of the basic foundation that you need before diving into the world of internal medicine,

The second time that I recommend you watch this video is about half way through your time in internal medicine. Doing this will give you a great review of what you have learned so far, and maybe what you need to keep learning.

Then, the last time is right towards the end of the rotation. Prior to taking the shelf/COMAT, this way you can power through an entire review of internal medicine in a weekend or just a day if needed.

This is a fantastic resource, but use it in combination with practice questions and Online Med Ed.

Emma Holliday High Yield Surgery Review

What’s in the High Yield Surgery Review

  • Pre-operative evaluations
  • Acid base disorders
  • Burns
  • Trauma
  • Thoracic, gastrointestinal and endocrine disorders
  • Murmurs
  • Oncology
  • Orthopedics
  • Anesthesia

Why is the High Yield Surgery Review from Emma Holliday so great

There are a lot of things in surgery that are important. There are also a fair amount of resources out there on the topic.

The high yield surgery review from Emma Holliday is a great way to quickly recap the high points. She covers many of the same topics that Dr. Pestanas surgical notes, which is one of the shortest and most high yield books out there for surgery.

There is some cross coverage into the details on surgical recall, but as a whole Emma Holliday has done a fantastic job boiling it down to just the basics, but not so basic that you miss some of the important details that can get you more points on test day.

How to use Emma Holliday’s high yield Surgical Review

Just like the other reviews mentioned above, you should watch this one 3 times throughout your rotation.

Once at the start, once in the middle, and once at the end of it.

I don’t recommend that you pair this with Online med ed, instead I say pair it with surgical recall and Dr. Pestanas notes.

These two books are incredibly high yield and will round out the fantastic review that Dr. Holliday has put together.

Use those books throughout the rotation, and watch this

Emma Holliday High Yield Psychiatry Review

Emma Holliday High Yield Psychiatry Video

What is in the High Yield Psychiatry by Emma Holliday

  • Depressive disorders
  • Psychosis and schizophrenia
  • Eating disorders
  • Phobias and personality disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Dementia and memory loss
  • Seizures
  • Addiction problems
  • Intellectual disability
  • Anxiety and attachment disorders

Why is the Psychiatry Review by Emma Holliday so Awesome

Not only are all the high yield topics for psychiatry covered very well in this review, but they are done in a case presentation format.

Having a review built on a case presentation format means you not only get to review the individual topics, but you also get to go over common case presentations and the important things to look for in a given question.

Psychiatry reviews can heavily focus on DSM-V criteria and how you actually make a diagnosis, not necessarily picking out the important details from a question stem and finding the right answer.

This is where the Emma Holliday Ramahi psychiatry lecture really separates itself from the other reviews out there.

Also, with it being about 40 slides in length you can rest assured that this review is only the important details that you need to absolutely succeed on your shelf/COMAT tests.

Who should be using the Emma Holliday Reviews

Really, anyone that is a 3rd or 4th year medical student at either an MD or DO school.

With that being said these reviews are absolutely best used by 3rd years preparing for their rotation exams (COMAT or Shelf), prepping for the USMLE/COMLEX, or prepping for common pimping questions on rounds.

If you are a 3rd or 4th year medical student, then please use these great reviews and share this article with your classmates, so they can enjoy the reviews in one easy to access place.

How to use these Lectures effectively

The best way to use these lectures is to make sure you watch the corresponding lecture at the start of your rotation.

Then watch it again in the middle, and a few days before you take your shelf/COMAT.

This gives you three solid passes through the material, and the more you watch something the better you know it right?

I personally don’t feel like watching these more than 3 times is very beneficial  because, there are other good sources of review out there that may go into more detail and have different approaches to the same idea.

Having multiple different views of the same topic is great because it allows you to pull them all together and formulate what you deem to be the most important.

Are Emma Holliday PDF’s worth looking at before Step 2?

Absolutely!

If you have spent a decent amount of time reviewing these PDF’s and videos throughout 3rd year then they will definitely be of help before your Step/Level 2.

The tricky thing is not getting bogged down with too many resources for your step 2 CK prep. So, making sure you watch these videos early on in 3rd year and during their corresponding rotations is key!

This way you have seen it before and it isn’t fresh material right before your step.
